My 76th and final read of the year was Crank Palace by James Dashner, a novella from the Maze Runner series.
Potential spoilers for the end of the Maze Runner books/ films below.
A brief summary
The novel is set during The Death Cure, when Newt leaves the others for Crank Palace once he discovers he’s not immune to the Flare like them. It follows the part of the story we never got in the original series and fills in the blanks of what happened to Newt before the tragic end.
My thoughts
This wasn’t as emotional as I was expecting, as Newt’s death in the books nearly broke me but it was a nice addition to the story to see what happened when Newt went missing in Death Cure.
