I usually only ever do end of the year summaries, but I thought it’d be fun to try and write one each quarter to look back on at the end of the year, so this is my half year one.
Life check-in
Um, in a word? Busy.
I am lucky, my life is full of things I enjoy doing, there’s just a lot of it. I refuse to cut something out, so I’ve been working on how to do all the things, without running myself into the ground.
In May I got super sick with some kind of viral chest infection, which I essentially lost the whole month to. It scared me good, because I have been stuck in a cycle where I burnout and come down with something, every 6 months or so for literally years but this time was probably the sickest I have ever felt and I only just got over a throat infection in February.
So, I’m working on being reformed. I’m doing all the things but with hard rules about taking breaks, and making a real effort to eat and sleep better. Work is good, friends and partner are good, podcast is good, so now I’m just working on taking better care of myself, it’s been a stressful year and now it’s time to move beyond surviving and onto thriving!
Writing check-in
The fizzle, the desire to write is back! Time is currently an issue (see above lol) but I’m just so glad the feeling is back. It was odd to be without it, like a missing limb.
Reading check-in
Overall, I’ve read 45 books, so I’m doing well for the year goals (100 books)
Let’s break it down with the Storygraph stats:
(Ignore the minutes listened counter, it’s not accurate atm)

If you care to follow me on Storygraph so you can see what I’m reading before the review appears on the blog, here is a link to my account.
I’m hoping to start getting through a little more book-books, as audio is currently reigning supreme in the read count and while there is nothing wrong with that, I had a secret secondary goal that at least 50 books of the total would be physical or digital books.
There you go, if you care to read these posts, I have no idea why, but I’m grateful you are here! I hope you are all having a good year.
