My Killer Vacation

My Killer Vacation by Tessa Bailey was the 75th book I read this year. I’ve seen this one around on booktok and various lists forever, so I was excited to see if it was good, as it’s always 50/50 with booktok books.

Plot summary attempt

Taylor has saved up to take her little brother on their dream vacation, only problem is when they arrive she spots two things wrong: 1. There’s something like peepholes in the ceiling, 2. There’s a dead man in the laundry room. After she calls the cops Taylor is shocked to find that she doesn’t feel traumatised, she feels a thrill at how she handled things in a crisis and an insane amount of curiosity about what happened to the man, as a huge crime podcast lover. When the dead man’s sister hires a private investigator to find out what happened (who is also incredibly hot), Taylor pushes her way into the investigation.

Myles has been on the road alone working as a bounty hunter for a while after a case gone wrong in his time as a detective. He agrees to look into a murder as a favour to his buddies’ wife and when he gets there, there is a tiny gorgeous school teacher who keep interfering and getting under his skin in a way no one ever has before. When she starts to become threatened as a consequence of their investigation, all of Myles’s worst fears look like they might come true and that someone might get hurt again because he missed something, so he has to race to solve it before the brightest thing that’s been in his life for a while is lost.

My thoughts

So this was a cute book but honestly it bordered on a cheesy. It’s not that greatest writing but its fun and although its a silly concept, its also really read-able and was the perfect holiday read. I think if you aren’t going to take it too seriously, it’s a good time.
