Party Animal, Prickle Island Zoo Book 3, by Ali. K. Mulford, was the 11th book I read this year. I’ve loved this series so far and I was really excited for the next book.
You can read the review of book 1 here: She’s a keeper
And book 2 here: Easy Tiger
Plot summary
Finch doesn’t do long term relationship, she has a busy job, too many siblings and not much time for anything else. Except, now two are settled down, she’s getting tired of being made fun of, so when the very hot, recently heart-broken, new chef, needs help getting revenge on her already-moved-on ex, Finch is only too happy to volunteer. Except, Frankie is just starting to figure out her sexuality… so why not add ‘casual fun’ for ‘educative’ purposes to their dynamic? Also, they move in together when her room at hotel gets ruined in a storm but what could go wrong? Predictably, they both catch feelings but Finch’s can’t seem to let go of her the idea that she doesn’t have space for a committed relationship.
My review
I don’t know how Ali. K. Mulford somehow manages to make me laugh and cry every-time I read one of her rom-com books. I really enjoyed Finch’s story, I love the zoo setting and the family dynamic, I loved how mumma Lachlan stepped in to help Finch get out of her own way. I liked how cute and cosy her relationship with Frankie is and the way they just accept their separate passions.
I really like this series, it has so much more emotion than other rom-com books, whilst being really funny and sweet.
