My Feral Romance

My Feral Romance by Tessonja Odette was the 16th book I read this year, I wanted a short-ish listen and this book was included on Everand, so I thought, why not?

A vague summary

Set in a pseudo Edwardian society where Fae and humans live side by side, Daphne is a fae shifter who works in publishing but is looking to become an illustrator. She has landed her dream gig painting the covers of her favourite steamy novelist, the only problem is… she hasn’t studied the naked male form enough to get it quite right. Daphne soon concludes that there’s a solution to this that will solve her other problem too (a drunken betrothal in her fae village), she must find a husband and quickly.

Monty is her former colleague, a serial matchmaker turned gossip and advice columnist, who has now written a book with advice on courting. Only his former employer knows him to be a rake and scoundrel, so will only take a risk on publishing the book if he can get a case study that proves his methods work.

So he and Daphne work out an agreement after a chance encounter, Monty will help her find a husband and in the mean-time pose for her book covers. He makes it very clear that he cannot be her match, as he has no intention of marrying, ever. Despite that, over their lessons they grow closer to one another but can they move past the secrets haunting Monty?

My review

I enjoyed this book, it was easy listening, cute romance book with an interesting word as the back-drop. I liked the slightly Jane Austen-esq setting, I enjoyed the banter between the characters and I liked the journey they go on. It was exactly the kind of book I needed during a stressful week!
