My 7th book of the year was Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert, the second book in the Brown sisters trilogy.
You read my review of the first book here.
A brief summary
Dannika Brown doesn’t have time for love, her career is more important and anyway, these things never work out, so why bother? So when she prays to her Wiccan God for a new fuck buddy and all signs point to the extremely attractive security guard, what was she to do? When a video of him heroically carrying her out of their building during an alarm test gone wrong goes viral, accidentally helping to boost Zafir’s charity that he runs in his spare time, they decide to give fake dating a go to take advantage of the hype (for his charity, of course). While they’re fake dating and spending all this time together, Dannika persuades Zaff to also become fuck buddies, after all, what could go wrong? Zaf’s just a secret romantic, who likes happily ever after romance books and has had a massive crush on Dannika for six months… there’s no way this could end in disaster.
My thoughts
I enjoyed this book just as much as the first, I swear these books have been written specifically for me as mini therapy because this book deal with the loss of relative and someone intentionally being emotionally disconnected to protect herself from getting hurt in relationships. Without telling you too much about myself, big ouch for my feelings, damn. I love Dannika’s sense of humour and how Zaf deals with her sass. I also loved how sensitive Zafir is and how his mental health and anxiety is represented in this book. I usually hate fake dating but I really liked how it was done in this book. All round, would definitely recommend this series.
