Bride to the Fiend Prince

The 47th book I read this year read Bride to the Fiend Prince by Rebecca F. Kenney, which are standalone books as part of the Dark Rulers series.

A brief summary

Amarylla always trusted her father when he said the he would let her choose her own husband one day, so she is stunned when he announces at dinner that she is to marry the Fiend Prince, heir to the Tyranical and colonial neighbouring kingdom. Drugged and transported there against her will, she is forced to consent to the marriage. This is why she is very surprised when the supposed ‘fiend’ prince tells us her he will not consummate the marriage against her will and tries to find ways to make her happy, despite her captive situation. She quickly realises that the Dread King is somehow forcing the Fiend Prince to commit the act of violence he is famous for and that this is related to why there are so many people in the kingdom with magic compared to others.

My thoughts

Look, if you take this book for what it is, smut with a fantasy plot framework and don’t take it more seriously than that, this is a fun, quick read. The FMC has a lot of agency in this book, so it’s not some like toxic dickhead being framed as romantic. I enjoyed this book (again with the proviso of not taking it too seriously), and I think I’ll read the other books in the series as they are on KU.
