It’s a new year so it’s time to set some goals for my 2025 reads! Now, I do these as something to aim towards/ as motivation but they are fairly loosey goosey.
Let me first say, all reading is good, whether you manage 1 book or 100. Audio books are reading, manga and graphic novels are reading… essentially, however you consume your books, it’s all good
My reading goals
So last year I set a goal of 100 books, with the aim to read 50 book-books (physical/ digital), alongside audios.
Usually in my year count, I would add in the books I listened to fall asleep, so on Storygraph I set a goal of 75 books, assuming the other 25 would made up by sleep ones. In 2024 even without my sleep listens, I just about hit that 100 goal.
So, for next year, the goal is 100 books again but I want to not just about make it by sneaking in some short books right at the end to get me there!
I want to read a little more non-fiction now I’ve discovered I find them easier to consume as audios. I’d also love to tackle some of the longer books on my shelves, which I avoided this year because life was being stressful and simply could not be bothered.
In summary:
- 100 books – 50/50 split between audio and books.
- 40,000 pages again – because I didn’t’ hit that this year
- 5 non-fiction books
- At least one of my 1k pages books
- 20 books 500+ pages
I’ve also joined this 25 in 25 challenge on Storygraph, where you choose 25 books from your TBR and the goal is to read them over the year. As I’ve got too many books on my bookshelves that I’ve never gotten round to reading, so I need something to track if I’m actually managing that.
I actually made my own challenges on Storygraph for my non-fiction goal and longer pages goal:
Join the 5 non-fiction books challenge here
Join the 20 books 500+ here
Join the 1k books challenge here.
What are your goals? If you’re looking for ideas, I made a blog with 8 goals/ challenge ideas for next year you can use to track your reads!
